Update: Turns out this leaked image is a little off the mark. OnePlus has now taken to its blog to confirm the official time for the OnePlus 3 launch event. For those wondering, it’ll be on June 14 at 5.30pm BST (12.30pm EDT, 9.30am PDT).
Original story
After months of leaks and speculation the OnePlus 3 is almost in sight and we now know exactly when we’ll get an official look at it, as OnePlus has posted a teaser which makes the launch date very clear.
The image, which was shared on the official OnePlus Weibo page and spotted by MobiPicker, contains a large ‘3’, along with the date June 15.
Previously it was rumored that the Oneplus 3 would be announced on June 14, which depending on where you are in the world is still true, as according to the teaser the phone will be revealed in Shenzhen at 10am local time on June 15 (3am BST, 10pm June 14 EDT, 7pm June 14 PDT).
Straight on sale
But there’s more, as OnePlus accompanied the image with the revelation that the phone will go on sale in China the very next day (June 16). There’s no word yet on when the rest of the world will get the handset, but hopefully the wait won’t be too long.
There may not be too many surprises though, as full specs and details for the OnePlus 3 have been heavily leaked and are rumored to include a slim metal shell, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing one, 32GB or 64GB of storage and a 3000mAh battery.
All of which could make for a tempting alternative to a high cost flagship if the price is right, which being a OnePlus phone it probably will be.
