OnePlus has confirmed it will be dropping the invite-only order model for the OnePlus 3, meaning you’ll be able to buy it right away on day one.
You’ll be able to buy the phone as soon as it’s announced on June 14. The OnePlus 3 will be officially announced in a virtual reality press conference, which you’ll be able to tune in for at 12:30pm EDT (9:30am PDT, 5:30pm BST).
The phone will be available for two and a half hours inside The Loop – the virtual reality space the OnePlus 3 is being announced in – but will then be available on the website from 3pm EDT (12pm PDT, 8pm BST).
This is the first time a company has ever made a virtual reality store.

OnePlus has also guaranteed it will end all invite schemes for future product launches. That means if the company decides to release a OnePlus X 2 or OnePlus 4 it won’t be put back onto the invite-only system.
What isn’t certain is how much capacity OnePlus will have compared to demand for the brand new flagship phone. The company is still relatively small, so it may be that the Chinese firm will be a little overwhelmed now it has dropped the invite system.
When phones will start shipping also hasn’t been made clear by OnePlus – it may be quite a wait even if you order on day one.
