For less than £300 you can get an excellent beginners’ Nikon DLSR with a kit lens included
Black Friday is always a good time to snap up a camera deal, and this may well be the best DSLR deal we see. If you’re looking to move on from smartphone photography to a proper camera, you can get the Expert Reviews Recommended Nikon D3500 AND an included kit lens for just £299 at Currys PC World.
The Nikon D3500 DSLR, which we rated the budget DLSR king earlier this year, comes with the Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3,5-5.6G lens. That means you have a DSLR equipped with a lens with different focal lengths so you can get started with shooting from wide-angle to middle distances.
As for the camera itself, it comes with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor and is happy capturing RAW images for manipulating later in Photoshop and JPEGs for uploading to various social media sites to show off your fledgeling photography skills. And for people who fancy a little bit of video recording alongside shooting stills, the Nikon D3500 will capture 1080p video at 60, 50, 30, 25 and 24fps; that’s perfectly decent for recording a video for posting to Facebook or even uploading to YouTube.
When we reviewed the Nikon D3500, we praised it for its ability to snap good-quality images and its lightweight design; it’s effectively an evolved take on the Nikon D3400, which we also praised as a superb budget DSLR.
It’s not the most feature-heavy of DSLR cameras, but it still has some neat touches like Bluetooth 4.1 and a handy ‘Guide’ mode which instructs beginners on which settings to use to capture portraits or pictures of things in motion, for instance. In short, it’s an excellent camera for beginners, and now at a price of £299 it won’t break the bank for people looking to get started with DSLR photography.
