A couple of days ago we heard reports that Samsung was going to release a new glossy black version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and it seems those reports were true, as some pictures of the Edge model have now emerged.
The shots, shared by a Samsung employee on Weibo, show the phone in a shinier black finish than the ‘Black Onyx’ shade you can currently get the S7 Edge in.
In fact, the color looks more than a little like the Jet Black version of the iPhone 7.
It’s a color that proved popular for Apple, and could be just the thing Samsung needs to reignite interest in its aging flagship – a task that’s all the more vital now the Galaxy Note 7’s been killed.
Black, black and more black
As well as being shinier than the standard black model, this new glossy black version has a black frame, in place of a metallic grey, giving it a more unified look and helping it stand out from the existing S7 Edge models.
Given the source of the shots we’d say this new shade is all but confirmed, and based on previous rumors the glossy black model should be in stores before Christmas, making the choice between an iPhone 7 and a Samsung Galaxy S7 that little bit harder.
