My last IPhone was the 4s. Since android 4.0 the OS has evolved and the tech has surpassed what iPhone could offer. There are a variety of nonproprietary android apps that let you mms/sms, or video chat on different platforms. I have an iPad Air because it's still best in class for that form factor but my LG G3 using Mysms and the stock android launcher is fantastic. Nothing better than letting the free market develop the best apps. As a power user with a variety of devices android just lets me do things the way I want to do them – that means collaboratively cross platform. That said, my dad sucks with computers and I insist he use an iPhone because it's simple and intuitive and great for one hand use. It would be nice if my apps didn't update every other day though. My favorite thing about my G3 is I have literally not plugged a cable into since I bought it. I have a backup battery charger I got for free when I bought the phone in my house and another that cost me $15 in my car. My battery lasts a little over a day.

Disclaimer: it can take a lot of know how to make an android phone efficient. My buddies have iPhones and constantly tell me they love my phone (e.g. When I show them something or multitask with it)

The iPhone deserves praise for the areas it excels in, unfortunately in recent years it does not match up to its peers in most areas. I am the opposite of you it is because the iPhone did not maintain its early lead in the smartphone and fell behind Android phones. iPhones lack of functionality and Apples restrictions on it mean it falls far short of what I need. Drastically declining software quality and lack of value is driving me away from other Apple products too.

  3. Barney Lynch says:

I said iOS isn't perfect, but if you think Chrome is faster than Safari in loading the comments section on here then you're delusional, iOS is better than Android still but Android has come a long way but iOS still has the edge, iPhone is much easier to set up than Android especially updated to the latest software from set up. Give Apple credit for what they do right. But I'm wasting my time with an Android fanboy.

  4. Madison Bruen says:

iPhone 6 is looking a bit dated , but as the price drops its a reasonable way into the apple Eco system for not much dosh.

  5. Ms. Rachelle McGlynn says:

Both phones are great and both have pros and cons and it really depends on your preference of OS. The Galaxy S6 has a better display than iPhone. This phone was basically launched against the iPhone 6 and it has got a good response from many sections of the market. The AMOLED displays with 2560*1440 pixels give great experience for the users.
Apple iPhone 6s is known for performance and the IOS 9 is very strong and often outperform the Android. However, the opinion differs among the loyalists of IOS and Android. The quality and the material of Apple iPhone 6s is way better than the Galaxy S6. S6 is made up of glass cover at the back that makes it slippery and uncomfortable.
My personal opinion, I will buy an iPhone 6s because Apple really invest a lot of time in making sure that their users will get the greatest experience by using their devices.

  6. Major Corkery says:

Mostly cheap low end Android junk.

  7. Delbert Morissette says:

I've had very few issues with software on the iPhone and iOS is still ahead of Android although the gape is closing, in fact, the iPhone is driving me to buy more Apple products, Apple products are easier to use and one reason iOS is still ahead of Android is a better back up system, app data is backed up too unlike Android. Sure iOS isn't perfect and it's had a few issues of late but I know Apple is very quick in deal with any iOS software bugs quickly unlike fragmented Android, in fact the only version of Android I can tolerate is stock Android, but I still prefer iPhone over that as well, iOS is a smoother, faster and slick experience, after getting my 6s Plus, next stop iPad as well as getting a Mac, I'll get an Apple TV.

  8. Hilbert Blanda says:

At this point honestly noone cares. Good for you though

  9. Susie Grant DDS says:

The only apps that are superior on Android are Google's own apps, everything else is superior on iOS, Safari slow? You must have been using a 4S or something because Safari isn't slow, that would be Google Chrome and other browsers that's slow. Especially on this site where Chrome is slow at loading up the comments section or won't load at all while Safari loads the comments section quickly and loads every time. And as long as the iPhone is at least a year old and can run the latest version of iOS then that phone isn't outdated, you clearly have been "using it wrong " to quote Steve Jobs in regards to Safari on the iPhone. I upgrade my phone every 2 years to the S model as the improvements are more significant in the case of the 6s and 6s Plus. Android is a lot of hassle setting up too you have to go through every version of Android to get to the current version, with iOS you skip straight to the latest version of iOS, another reason why I will always prefer iPhone and iOS over Android and iOS is still ahead.

  10. Emmalee Ritchie says:

I know this comment is 6 months old but the iPhone deserves all thr praise it gets, it's because of the iPhone I love Apple and now I plan on getting an iPad (again) as well as Mac.

  11. Dariana West says:

IOS is very much behind Android it overtook IOS some time ago. Proof of that is that is that from 7 – 9 most of the major new features have been following Android or Android apps. I believe one of the main reasons IOS has been so buggy in the last 3 releases is Apple was so desperate not to fall more behind that they rushed updates without fully testing.

Yes Android is fragmented but that has little impact on most users if you truly look at it. Apple needs frequent updates and bug fixes because it is behind in functionality and has far too many bigs to fix. Updating an iPhone is like playing Russian Roulette you are gambling on getting a few extra features Android already has against losing seed, worsening the battery life, reduced functionality and stability or worse still a completely bricked phone!

Try using a modern Android phone you will still get a smooth, fast and slick experience without the lack of functionality and freedom of an iPhone and have superior screens, battery packages and cameras. You will also will have far more choice and better experience when you want your phone to connect with other equipment like computers, TVS, speakers etc.

  12. Rudy Bosco says:

I've tried Android, first with a Moto G and then a Nexus 6, which I enjoyed a lot more than the Moto G, but there a few things that annoy me about Android, updates, some poor quality apps and if you don't use Android for a while it's harder to adapt to Android than it is to iOS due to it's fantastic simplicity and user friendly interface, I like stock Android and Nexus but again some of the things like updates are still an annoyance even on stock Android, as much as I like stock Android, I like iOS and iPhone much much more, Apple gives me what I want, faster updates, much quicker app updates and the app quality is far by on iOS, I'll admit I had issues when I owned an iPad Air, but that was when I updated it to iOS 8. I'm happy with iPhone and iOS and I may have an Android phone again but it won't be any high end phone as I don't need one as I'll be getting an iPhone 6s Plus next month and the only reason I'll get an Android phone as a secondary phone is because of Google+ which isn't as good on iOS, iOS and iPhone will always be my personal preference and choice, another reason I like iPhone the most is Safari loads the comments section of this site quickest. Chrome is just horrible for that and it doesn't always load either and when it does, it's so slow and laggy, I'll be staying with iPhone and when Google bothers to improve Google+ on iOS then I'll dump Android for good. My loyalty is with Apple, I'll be getting an iPad again and a Mac, Apple's ecosystem is just so much better than Google's.

  13. Prof. Roslyn Frami V says:

It's hilarious to revisit these articles on a lunch break. The comments sections are always jammed with fandroid trolls.

  14. Rosalinda Steuber says:

I think you are dreaming if you think that all IOS apps are better than Androids. Just look at the comparable keyboard apps, far better on Android phones than iPhones. Remember too that overall Android Apps have been more stable than IOS ones for a long time.

Safari is slower not only on iPhones, but tablets and on Macs too than other browsers. I stopped using Safari on my Mac a good while because Chrome was faster and more reliable. I have not been using it wrong there are many comparisons between the two that confirm my experience. Remember Steve used the phrase "you must be holding it wrong" to cover up a real failing of the iPhone. It was not being used wrong but was bad design!

Android can be as easy to setup as IOS, the difference is Android can be setup for the way you use a phone, making it more efficient and faster to use, the iPhone is basically take it or leave it. When I setup my wives Galaxy s6 Edge it took a few minutes, my friends iPhone took much longer as I had to file away (so annoying after so many iterations of IOS) all the Apple apps and replace them with better third party apps, then try and sort out buggy wifi issues and connections with peripherals. Playing around with iTunes to get the information she needed on the phone took ages and was so fiddly and frustrating, all of this was a breeze on my wives Edge and a few one or two minute tweeks put it way ahead of the iPhone in usability for her use!

IOS is a good OS but it is limited and severely restrictive, For those who have got used to the way Apple wants you to use your phone it seems perfect, but that does not make it the best OS. Android and even Windows Mobile are far more flexible just as easy to use and can be a simple or complex as you want it to be.

  15. Juliet DuBuque says:

Still disgusted that Samsung abandoned the things that made them stand out from Apple and copied the iPhone model. I really can't stand how everyone cares more about how their phone looks and feels than about how it performs. Samsung always had superior features, battery life, and utility, but shallow people (and, ironically, all these "tech" review sites) kept whining that they weren't as sleek and shiny as other phones. The S6 is still great, but I miss the cool, unique functionality that previous Galaxy models had.

  16. Demetrius McGlynn says:

I know this comment a year old but the reason Apple didn't put 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 6 is because iOS 8 and iOS as a whole is more efficient than Android and iOS didn't and still doesn't require 2GB of RAM and not because of profit.

  17. Dr. Ida Stoltenberg MD says:

Yeah so good looking that they barely sold at all lol, the S4 was outsold by the iPhone 5 and the S5 was outsold by the iPhone 5s and the S6 was still outsold by the iPhone 6 despite the the improved design of the S6.

  18. Destany Emmerich says:

iOS doesn't eat up RAM like Android does that's why Samsung put all those cores and RAM in the S6.

  19. Mr. Xzavier Schmeler Jr. says:

Of course More RAM is welcome, but due to how efficient iOS is 2GB of RAM is more than enough for iOS.

  20. Lurline Thiel Jr. says:

It is great you are happy with iPhones, I need more power, versatility and efficiency. I am not worried about getting updates so often, as like most people I change my phone every 1-2 years and do not want to put up with the headaches that come with IOS updates and Android is not playing catchup like IOS.

The staple Android apps are far superior to Apples and there is too restricted a choice in the Apple store and on balance where there is the same app in both stores there is no difference in quality, except they look far better on the flagship Android screens than on the out-of-date iPhone.

I really cannot understand your comment on Safari I stopped using it because it was slower than most other browsers.

Same with ecosystem, with iCloud being one of the worst online storage options and iTunes gets worse every year, for me the ecosystem sucks. It limits me to using expensive, but mid-range performing hardware, when I like to have the best in each area. Key components like Handoff, Airdrop and wifi handling are all inconsistent and buggy too.

Each to their own on choice if you are happy with the iPhone and being restricted to product choice then going all Apple is right for you.

  21. Miss Aditya Bartell says:

stellar camera on iphone 6/6s?? I own both phones (6s and galaxy s6) and can surely say that 6s is no match for galaxy s6 on camera performance (quality of pics and details). That's a shame to sell the phone (iphone) for such a price and to have old modules of sony in it without ios and mediocre aperture (personally would compare its camera with Z3). My old N8 makes far better pics, still. Although, the overall performance and smoothness is for 6s, simply enjoying that, phone is flawless and very fast.

  22. Mr. Edmond Kemmer I says:

I got gear vr for s6 and I'm really curious how will apple manage to power it's new virtual reality headset with those specs.

  23. Reina Friesen DVM says:

Aaah. So cheap low end Android junk is complicated to use?

  24. Immanuel Harber says:

More ram, more browser tabs open, more cached data = moar better.
ie; just because it isn't needed to run doesn't mean it wouldn't be better for it, just like some Android devices run OK with 512mb RAM but would run better with 4GB.

  25. Miss Tamia Heaney says:

If it isn't stock Android, then it's junk and more complicated, I just sold my Nexus 6 about 2 weeks ago and I currently have a 5C and I adapted back to iOS as if I'd never been away while I tried my siblings Nexus 6 while I can use it for the basics but Android is harder to adapt to than iOS, which is like riding a bike, you never forget.
