GDDGLE is going to release their first console winter 2017 with 8 core 4.2Ghz CPU, 1080pro graphics, inbuilt 4k VR. all at $688. How about that, don’t compare an existing product with an imaginary one?

The Xbox butthurt is real in here. Bottom line is this. Sony outsmarted MS twice in a row in this gen. Which of course means, PS5 is now otw. While Microsoft is having fun developing the Scorpio. Next thing you know boom Ps5 releases 1-2 years ahead of sleepy MS and good bye MS console department. So get ready to lose yet another console war Microsoft.

  3. Mr. Halle Ledner MD says:

The more I read about Pro and Scorpio, the more I feel the Pro was a reaction to Scorpio. I think PS was planning on a 5 or 6 year gen with PS4, but found out that XB was going for another 4 year gen, like from Xbox to 360.

History has shown that more often than not, giving the competition an entire years lead is not a good idea and risky. I think this led PS to create the Pro, and make sure they got it out well before Scorpio launched. This way they could lock up their core customer base, and hopefully a bunch of other spec hungry gamers, that may jump to Scorpio otherwise. This would be a very smart move on PS’s part, even if they plan on launching PS5 in late 2018 or 2019.

The last thing PS would want, is to end up in the same scenario as the 360 vs PS3 gen. PS had a spectacular console on the way, but because 360 launched a year early (most likely on purpose for XB to get an early lead) and was also quite a capable console, gamers flocked to it, and made sales tough for PS3. By releasing the Pro, PS basically eliminates that scenario this gen, and they can focus completely on PS5 which will launch sometime after Scorpio.

@EricHiggin The only person in the last 6 months that i have seen who makes sense, and truly gets it. I agree with you, and unlike many gamers out there who are still scratching their heads at Sony. “Why didn’t they make it stronger” I knew that Sony outsmarted MS yet again with another one year lead. the sales of PS4 Pro this Christmas alone, never mind the entire year until next Christmas. Will cement this Gens console war as a Sony victory. And that is a fact.

Will the Xbox Scorpio able to use HTC VIVE?

“[PS4 PRO] may lag slightly in performance and power, but probably not enough for the average player to notice.”

Yeah, right… From what we know, there’ll be a BIGGER power discrepancy between the SCORPIO and the PRO than there ever was between the XBOX ONE and PS4. And the difference between those two was enough to fuel Sony fanboy  ridicule towards the XBOX ONE for 3 years.

Wow this article isn’t biased at all….  First of all that £600 price point you pulled out of complete thin air.  That is purely speculation at thi s point.  It may very well cost that much but you have no idea.  So far the PS4 Pro isn’t worth upgrading at this point if you already own a PS4(that could change as developers have more time with it), where as it sounds like Scorpio is going to be a major upgrade from the original xbox one.  I love how you say the Xbox One only has a few titles like Gears of War, Halo, and Forza but then with Playstation you make it sound like they have way more exclusives and can benefit from playstation vue for a small fee.  People can benefit from Xbox One’s backward compatibility for no fee at all which is hands down better than playstation vue.  Microsoft has more exclusives that what you mentioned.  There is Crackdown 3, Dead Rising 4, Halo Wars 2, Phantom Dust, Sea of Thieves, Scalebound, Recore, Sunset Overdrive.  The list is pretty good.  I own both the PS4, PSVR, and Xbox One.  I would recommend the PS4 Pro to anyone who wants a PS4 and doesn’t yet have one. Otherwise this is an easy pass and only a small upgrade from the existing PS4.

  8. Samanta Nitzsche says:

First you say: “We don’t know the pricing, but our best guess is that it will cost £600-650 — almost double the PS4 Pro, which could cost even less if Sony can manage a price drop by then.”

Then you say: “So Project Scorpio is likely to cost a bit more than the PS4 Pro, but will you get more for your money? In short: probably.”

So first you over emphasize the price difference and ridiculously claim Scorpio will be almost double the PS4 pro price, I mean that’s just ridiculous, at most we’re looking at $100 difference, but then when speaking of whether you get more with your money, you say “Probably”?  Who wrote this, Kaz Hirai himself?
