  1. Speely says:

I think the absence of the charger is normal for these. If I recall correctly, my 3DS XL didn’t come with a charger. (I was forewarned about that and had already purchased one separately.)

  2. Secure Hunter says:

Is the New 3DS backwards compatible with the original Nintendo DS?

  3. The geek says:

I really hope that the release of the new 3DS isn’t going to go the same way that the sega 32X and CD did. The updates are good but it’s alienating to fans, well thats how i think.

  4. Darren McCoy says:

The biggest failure from Nintendo is the fact that you can’t download your old game library if you have already gotten rid of your old 3DS. These days we are all used to re-downloading everything we have paid for, for free after changing our mobile phones. This needs to be addressed by Nintendo and soon, I’ve bought some of their games about five times already over the years. I think I deserve the right to download them to future devices for free!

    1. Seth Jarrell says:

      You absolutely can.

Just call their customer support line and give them your NNID/Serial number of the New 3DS and a couple hours later your content is restored.

      1. Mic Redford says:

That’s a fucking terrible way of handling things. You mean I can’t handle my content my self?

  5. GamerWho says:

Just switch out SD card for a bigger one. And the battery must have improved if it’s running a faster cpu. £209 for an New XL with game, skull kid statue and charger is a pretty good price.

  6. lillanaa says:

Kind of pissed that they’re putting this out just after they threw a whole new line of XL’s out, would’ve like the Persona Q one to have been that one instead. Not eager to have to carry around a second XL just to play Xenoblade and Majora’s Mask.

    1. Andrew Simpson says:

Majoras Mask is not a New 3DS exclusive. you can play it on a normal 3DS but Xenoblade on the other hand……

      1. lillanaa says:

My apologies, just found that one out recently!

  7. Awais Ali says:

Good day tech fans, here is a puzzler for you
Do you think Luigi likes onions?

  8. sloppy says:

I really with the standard size was coming to the us, as I prefer the smaller size. I also would have really enjoyed using the face plates, but I guess I wont get to.

  9. Martin Günther says:

    Hi there! Two remarks:

    – It’s not the XL version that won’t be released in the US but the smaller one! It might hit the US market later, though.

    – About ghosting: It’s interesting that the reviewer had problems when he was holding the 3DS too close to his face. In my case it’s the other way around. Ghosting starts when I hold the screen too far away (e.g. in my lap instead of the 30 cm Nintendo proposes). Well, everyone’s eyes are different…

    1. AMX679 says:

Maybe not. Maybe there’s an optimal distance. If you shove your eyes right near the screen then you will see his point.

      1. Eddie says:

There IS an optimal distance interval. You can’t be too far OR too close. Try it and you’ll see.

  10. Doctor Pancakes says:

… if the 3DS launched with the tech of the New 3DS it would have been $400 at the time… as the tech became more affordable and fans voiced their opinions Nintendo took note and made these really nice updates.

    1. Jonathan Leack says:

Yeah, I really don’t think that a slightly faster processor and a C-stick would cost twice as much to manufacture in 2011…

      1. Adrian Meraz says:

You would be very surprised. It’s not just a processor with a faster clock cycle. Typically, processors 3 years superior include an expanded instruction set, possibly more pipelines, more cores/hyperthreading, better power management, shrunk die, less heat dissipation, and other tech that wasn’t available 3 years ago. A processor like this would’ve been non-existant, or more expensive than $400 to produce.

        1. Mic Redford says:

That likely wasnt the issue & in 2011 there where multiple processors with those features

          1. Adrian Meraz says:

What features are you talking about? Very vague.

          2. Mic Redford says:

I’m talking about the processor not features.

  11. EstebanTet De La Barba Florida says:

Also, I don’t know whether or not it was possible in the old 3DS, but I am streaming my 3D films library from my computer to the console using Plex and the internal browser. It is a surprisingly good experience to watch Guardians of the Galaxy or Jurassic Park on the 3DS. If only the resolution was better I believe many people would buy the console just to watch 3D films.

    1. Brunno Maceno says:

Uow, i never saw that! What did you do? Only Plex via Browser? What’s the max resolution?

  12. Rob Danson says:

these new features are to the 3ds what motion plus was to the wii – a late addition that enables it to do what it should have been able to do from the start. see also: wii speak, DSi, GBA SP, and basically most other nintendo upgrades and add-ons.
