Think I’d rather save myself several hundred pounds and use a Chromecast audio and any array of better sounding speakers (whether be bookshelf, floor-standers, satellites w/sub etc) and a cheap amp.

You’re also extremely limited with a soundbase in regards to fitting it in; unless you buy your furniture and TV to ensure it all fits together nice, or you just happen to have the right size stand and feet on the TV the right distance apart.
I’m also not convinced about vibrations being passed through to the screen, although I see the scientific method of placing you hand on top to judge was enforced, you’ll excuse my scepticism. Particularly with TV sets getting thinner and lighter, even with a lot of modern devices having their connectivity in a separate box to the screen, they will be more susceptible to vibration.

I’m really not enthused by Sonos products at all. They’re extremely expensive and, in my opinion, don’t sound that great.

Otherwise, I can’t wait for the full review 🙂

While I’m sure my cheaper Zvox base will still sound better out-of-the-box than this Playbase, the benefit of going SONOS is the streaming media aspect of the complete ecosystem.

Agreed. I’m a bit concerned about performance, but I’m definitely willing to go into the review with an open mind when our review unit arrives.
