  1. Lourdes Dare says:

I think iPhone SE is beauty of future past. It likes X-men: Days of Future Past, SE use design of 5S an power of 6S
    ^_^

  2. Terrence Konopelski says:

They have released the phone purely because they have found that their is a demand for the size. And too pack 6s specs into it is impressive. Apple will innovate with the 7, Apple has catered for every taste and power users will salivate over the 7 as usual.

  3. Haven Reichert Sr. says:

Because apart from putting a this year's chip in an iPhone 5S, what else has been notably improved?

I don't really mind, there is indeed a lack of strong phones with smaller screens. The only company trying to offer something was Sony's Z Compact range.

It's the hypocrisy that annoys me. Imagine Samsung releasing the S4 Mini with a Snapdragon 820 and 3GB ram. Everyone would bash them for lack of innovation, no design evolution, etc etc. What does Apple gets for the same? "The exterior is svelte and sleek…"

  4. Olin Considine says:

It certainly amuses me that this is seen as a fried and true design, yet company's like Sony for example are often berated for sticking with a design template and refining it.

It always amazes me that Apple always seem to get a free pass.

  5. Dr. Sammie Balistreri says:

Gawd…..innovate this, innovate that…..some people simply do not want to carry an ipad around when they want a phone that can easily fit in their front pocket.

  6. Enos Wiza says:

I have no problem with the phone itself, it's the marketing gimmick around it which annoys me. This is not a "new" or "reinvented" phone. They had some stock of 5S shells lying around and they had to get rid of it somehow.

The "affordable" price range is a laugh too. 400 USD will surely convert to about £400. You can buy a new Galaxy S6 on that (just as an example, as it was arguable 2015's top Android phone)

  7. Wilhelm Gusikowski says:

iPhone designs are far from dull. In fact they are sleek, minimalist and durable especially the 5 and 6 series.

  8. Myrl Rice says:

It lacks the RAM, selfie camera, 3D touch screen of the 6s, not to mention the updated design . To make matters worse is that you have to spend $500 on the 64 GB option if you want to make good use of the 4K video capabilities.

This is not a good bang for your buck!

  9. Prof. Travis Krajcik V says:

Apple fans are the Justin Bieber fans of the tech world..

  10. Ruby Abbott says:

    im laughing cause its true

  11. Damian Witting says:

    lol a 'durable' iphone 5….hahahahahahahh

  12. Newton Herman says:

So what? They have done the same with their computers for years. Same shell and upgraded performance.
People like the design so why change it?
[edit] If they can reuse part of the tooling and production line that really docent matter does it?

  13. Joana White says:

Other "real" differences is the lack of RAM rumored, Apple won't say, so that's not a good sign. This could have an adverse effect on both performance and the devices future proof abilities when it come to updates that are already known to slow down older and under powered iphones . Also no force touch screen and the terrible selfie camera remains not to mention the tired design.

The problem with Apple Pay is that you can't use it much. The 4K video recording is great but the screen is garbage and at 16 GB to start there won't be much of that going on with the lack of space. Really needs a 32 GB base model because as it is people are going to be buying the more expensive $500 model and at that price, so much for a "great deal"

  14. Macey Jacobson says:

You can't use Apple Pay much? What, except for everywhere that takes contactless, which is tonnes of places?

  15. Katheryn Sauer says:

I think you misunderstand me. The phone itself is fine. It's the fact that it's advertised as a reinvented, much upgraded phone at a very premium price.

I'd imagine a large percentage of the cost of a phone for example is design, planning, setting up the factory, etc. They don't need to do that with this phone. They are still asking as much money for it as it was last year's flagship even though it's not worth that much.

Honestly, what do you think will be the difference between a 5S and an SE in terms of real life performance?

  16. Haylee Brekke says:

Camera has had a massive overhaul for both photo and video, Apple Pay is on this when it wasn't on the 5S, and the processor is greatly improved over the 5S.

And to answer a previous comment of yours ($400 will equal £400), it's selling for £359 in the UK and has the same specs as their flagship phone which costs nearly £200 more. Yes, that is a very good deal as the only real difference is the smaller screen.

  17. Clotilde Huel says:

Oh look it's a "PIG WITH LIPSTICK". Seriously the iPhone 5 I use for work is the worse phone I have ever used… screen is too small, with incredibly poor reception and battery life.
If Apple wanted to change peoples perception then they shouldn't have recycled this phone.

  18. Alva Weimann says:

Apple have been sticking to their design in most products for years.
Good design doesn't get old, but you don't have to like it regardless of age.

  19. Antoinette Murazik says:

Massive market for small blocky smart phones. Perhaps Samsung will relaunch the S1

  20. Gordon Armstrong MD says:

Ah come on. Look around! The days when Apple's engineering and build were unmatched have been over for years now.

  21. Trinity Murray PhD says:

About the same as the difference between the 5s and the 6s.
The 6s is about 6 months old, so how can the 5SE be a 3 year old phone when it has the 6s hardware?

  22. Ms. Janice Schneider Jr. says:

Aside from the low resolution screen how is it a 3 year old phone?

Plenty of people buy mid-range phones precisely because they want a smaller screen.

  23. Lupe Wyman MD says:

I am using a large screen phone but prefer a smaller one as it is much handier to use, iPhone SE would be the ultimate smartphone for me without a doubt. Have always liked Apple's product designs, engineering and build – unmatched.

  24. Brock Heaney says:

HTC as well. Apple truly has tech media on their knees. If you want your iDevices to review first and invites to Apple events then media must promote the propaganda. It unfortunate for naive consumers that many of them aren't aware of the BS that surrounds the Apple brand.

  25. Kathryne Schinner says:

This is certainly a disappointment in my eyes. Apple need to truly innovate in my mind. The iPhone is looking dull when compared to Samsung, LG and such on Android.
